Wild Mint
Mentha arvensis. A fragrant, native perennial that brings refreshing scent and pollinator pollinator appeal to wet meadows, streambanks, and rain gardens. Blooming from mid to late summer, Wild Mind produces attractive dense clusters of tiny, tubular white to lavender flowers tucked in whorls along unique square stems. These nectar-rich blooms are a favorite of many pollinators, including bees, beneficial wasps, butterflies, and the occasional hummingbird. When crushed, its toothed leaves release an unmistakably cool and minty aroma that’s sure to make any rain garden smell amazing.
Thrives in most sun conditions from full sun to partial shade, will prefers moist to wet soils and is especially well-suited to rain gardens, ditches, or low-lying areas with consistent moisture. Can spread aggressively through rhizomes in ideal conditions, forming lush low-growing colonies, over time. Grows 6-24″ in height.
