Description
Path Rush
Juncus tenuis. Tough and adaptable, this native rush brings texture and ecological value to a wide range of landscapes. Easy to overlook due to its modest appearance, this grass-like perennial forms tidy clumps of slender, upright stems that stay green well into fall. One of our most resilient species, it thrives in full sun to part shade and tolerates a wide variety of soils—from dry, compacted clay to moist sandy loam.
It gets its name from its frequent appearance in poor-quality, compacted areas near footpaths and trails. It’s also unpalatable to deer and rabbits, further increasing its durability and fortitude. Grows 12 to 18″ inches in height.
