This Holiday Gift Box invites kids to jump into the world of pollinators, prairies, and planting with purpose. At its core is Plant a Pocket of Prairie by Phyllis Root, a delightful picture book that shows how even the smallest habitat can help wildlife thrive.

The prairie adventure continues next spring when they’ll receive a six-pack of real native plants of your choice.  Select from a variety of species found and pictured right in the story (and a few extra options), ready to transform a tiny patch of yard into blooming habitat.  Provide the recipient’s name before adding to your cart and we’ll create a personalized bamboo name tag to mark their special planting spot, giving them pride and ownership over the project!

The box also includes an eye-catching, holographic monarch sticker sure to be a hit, and a bundle of small seed packets to sow in your yard or share with pollinator friends.  Don’t worry, they’ll be able to squeeze a cute MNL bee whenever excitement buzzes too hard to contain.

Six-pack species options:

• • Common Milkweed – (Asclepias syriaca) – The essential habitat species for Monarch egg-laying and crucial food source of Monarch caterpillars.
  • Rose Milkweed – (Asclepias incarnata) – Another primary milkweed host plant for Monarchs, suited for areas of higher moisture.
  • Purple Prairie Clover – (Dalea purpurea) – A bushy legume with beautiful purple and orange blooms.  A bumblebee superfood.
  • Purple Coneflower‡- (Echinacea purpurea) – The icon of the tallgrass prairie, a pollinator favorite.

  • Gray Goldenrod ‡ – (Solidago nemoralis) – A shorter, well-behaved goldenrod variety for dry soils and full sun.
  • Silky Aster ‡ – (Symphyotrichum sericeum) – A unique and attractive short-statured aster.  A favorite late-season flower for pollinators.
