Description
Cover crop is a great way to both help with weed control and soil erosion in a seeding area. The main cover crops that we use for our native plantings are Oats and Winter Wheat. During the spring and summer, April through July, Oats are the better option. While during late summer and fall, August through November, Winter Wheat is the better option.
Each of our native seed mixes will come with the correct amount of cover crop for the size of the mix and the correct type of cover crop for the specific time of the year.
We would recommend 20-30 Lbs/acre of cover crop. This number can vary by the site conditions. The rate of cover crop should be increased when there is more slope to a seeding area.
