Description

Blooming Buffalo – Go Native Plant Sale

The City of Buffalo is excited to partner with MNL for the first-ever Blooming Buffalo – Go Native Plant Sale! Help bring a touch of native wildflower beauty and essential pollinator habitat to your yard and community. With a variety of MNL Signature Plant Kits to choose from, you’re sure to find an option that will thrive in your growing conditions.

Each kit is just $89.00 — a $25 savings off MNL’s regular retail price! Every kit includes 36 plants: six plants each of six different species. Species will vary based on current availability and will offer a range of bloom times and blossom colors. We recommend planting in an area of 40–60 square feet. Monarch Special Kit

Who doesn’t love seeing Monarch Butterflies? Now you can turn your backyard into a Monarch sanctuary. The Monarch Special Kit is designed to create the perfect environment for our orange and black winged friends. With milkweed species for the caterpillars to feast on and other blooming species for nectar, they won’t be able to resist. More than just for butterflies, you will enjoy a variety of colorful blooms, as well. Best planted in dry to mesic soil with plenty of sunlight any anywhere you want to see Monarch Butterflies.

 

Rusty Patched Bumble Bee Kit

MNL has partnered with the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources and the Lawns to Legumes program to design pollinator gardens to help create habitat for the endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. Each species is listed as a “superfood” by the MnBWSR.  Best planted in dry to mesic soils with plenty of sunlight.

 

 

Short & Tidy Kit

Perfect for small or preexisting ornamental flowerbeds, the Short and Tidy Kit is designed with compact species that don’t mind staying in one spot. This collection will provide Spring and Summer blooms in a wide range of colors while providing habitat for all types of pollinators, insects, and butterflies. With the short stature of these plants, consider using as an accent under a mailbox, near a flagpole, under a post and rail fence, or even in front of your home. Best planted in mesic soils with plenty of sunlight.

 

Rain Garden Kit

Full of gorgeous wetland wildflowers, turn wet areas into a beautiful Rain Garden. Designed perfectly for smaller, contained runoff areas.  Enjoy bright and vibrant blossoms throughout the growing season. Expect to attract a wide variety of insects and pollinators to your rain garden, including Monarch Butterflies!  Consider planting at the edge of parking lots, driveways, and any other areas with concentrated runoff.  Best planted in heavy soils with high moisture and plenty of sunlight.

 

Part Shade Garden Kit

The Part Shade Garden Kit is perfect for shady back yards and areas near wood lines.  These plants will strive in both direct sunlight as well as shade.  A fantastic, natural habitat for many pollinators and insects. Consider planting under large trees, in wooded backyards with filtered sunlight, and in areas along the wooded edge of your yard that may see direct sun or shade depending on the time of day. Can also be used to reduce maintenance around trees that are hard to mow under. Best planted in dry to mesic soil.

 

Backyard Prairie Kit

Bring a touch of tall, wild, native Minnesota prairie to your home with the Backyard Prairie Kit. Specifically designed to be planted in smaller, contained areas, this kit is perfect for back yards in town or urban settings. Expect flowers throughout the Summer and even into the Fall. The Backyard Prairie Kit will create habitat to attract all varieties of pollinators, as well as butterflies and songbirds too!  Best planted in contained areas of your yard with full sunlight or partial shade without height limitations.

 

Shoreline Stabilization Kit

The Shoreline Stabilization Kit is designed to provide attractive, natural protection and native habitat on the water’s edge. Safeguard any shoreline from erosion with this collection of deep rooted moisture tolerant plants while creating habitat for a wide range of wildlife and spawning grounds for a variety of fish. A versatile collection of resilient, sort-statured prairie grasses, this is the perfect compliment to any of our prairie flower kits. The Short Prairie Grass Kit is designed to provide ground cover, color, texture, and a natural look and feel to help support any of our prairie flowers. Also a great habitat for many pollinators, insects, and birds. Consider planting along side and with native wildflowers as support, or in open areas to help minimize wind and water erosion. Shipping

Plant orders placed by end of day Sunday, or earlier, will ship Tuesday. Orders placed Monday, or later, will ship the following week Tuesday. Please include any special shipping date requests with your order.

*June 20, 2025 – 4th of July Plant Shipping Notice: To avoid delivery delays around the July 4th holiday, we will not be shipping orders the week of June 30–July 4. Orders placed between June 23 and July 6 will be scheduled to ship Tuesday, July 8. If you are a Lawns to Legumes grant recipient, place your order by July 6 to ensure delivery before the July 15 deadline. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure your plants arrive healthy and on time!

Seed and non-plant orders are processed year-round and will typically ship within 5-7 business days.

MNL’s Statement on Neonicotinoids

We are committed to providing the highest quality restoration materials possible. We value the role our plants and seed have in the environment. To that end, we choose not to use Neonics and only use other chemicals only when necessary and/or as indicated by an integrated pest management program. This may result in plant leaves with minor feeding damage and/or the occasional monarch caterpillar found still chomping on your milkweed. Rest assured that these plants will be fine; the birds and butterflies will benefit.
