MNL partnered with Great River Energy to restore native pollinator habitat at their Elk River campus, the former site of a decommissioned waste-to-energy facility. Planted in fall 2023 with a diverse native seed mix, the project supports GRE’s Pollinator Strong initiative and its participation in the Monarch CCAA.
This restoration adds to the 9 acres already planted at the site and advances GRE’s goal of establishing 600 acres of pollinator habitat across Minnesota. We’re proud to support projects that improve biodiversity, reduce maintenance costs, and show how utility lands can serve ecological and community goals.
