What is the Lawns to Legumes Program?
In partnership with Blue Thumb, a network of clean water and native plant stewards, this pollinator cost-sharing program is for Minnesota residents. Each year, Blue Thumb distributes grants of up to $400 for pollinator habitat creation. As part of our support, MNL provides resources, education, support and products for residents to create pollinator habitats.

Pocket plantings
A pocket planting is the addition of a small prairie right in your yard. These can be intentionally designed plantings with wood mulch or a more wild mosaic of native species left to spread from 10 square feet to 1,000+. We grow over 150 native species of neonicotinoid-free native plant plugs, available in trays of 36 plants. Design your own or purchase one of our pre-designed plant kits.
Pollinator lawns
Commonly known as a bee lawn, pollinator lawns provide nesting and foraging space for insects which can reduce the amount of water, mowing and fertilization typically required to maintain these spaces. MNL’s Bee Lawn Seed Mix was created based on recommendations from the University of Minnesota
Pollinator meadows
Create an oasis for pollinators on your property by adding a native seed mix to a low-use area in your yard. A seeded pollinator meadow is a great option for larger planting spaces. Our highly diverse native seed mixes are an excellent way to add blooming species to your property, providing valuable habitat while creating a low-maintenance planting area.
