MNL has completed a sustainability improvement project at the Rogers Library.  Our crews spent 4 days excavating the existing vegetation, boulders, and soil and constructed a rain garden with compost, mulch, and native plants. Then they installed 2000 square feet of native prairie sod (no shortage of blooming Black-eyed Susans!) grown by our own production farms.   MNL will continue to maintain the site for the next 3 years.

Features:

  • Native prairie sod
  • Rain garden
  • Excavating

Completed:

2024

Benefits:

  • Rainwater collection
  • Runoff reduction
  • Quickly established prairie
  • Shelter for wildlife

In 2014, MNL began work on the creation of two rain gardens at Prince of Peace Church in Roseville. These rain gardens collect runoff from parking lot and roadway areas much more effectively than the previous turf lawn could. A variety of native herbaceous plants and shrubs were added in the spring of 2015 to filter runoff collected in the gardens.

Features:

  • Grading
  • Limestone retaining wall
  • Edging, mulching, planting soil
  • Drain tile installation

Completed:

2015

Benefits:

  • Water conservation
  • Pollinator habitat
  • Reduction of flood risk
  • Groundwater recharge

In the spring of 2016, MNL began work on repair of 5 old and underperforming rain gardens. This project consisted of removing existing soils and plant debris, adding rain garden soil mixture, installing edging, mulching, planting, and assembling splash blocks on 4 of the 5 garden spaces. We really enjoyed seeing the improvements in a short period of time!

Features:

  • Planting
  • Replacement drain system
  • Edging
  • Mulching

Completed:
